Striving to be the Best School District in Illinois
as
Blackhawk Pride

We are proud of our teachers and students and are grateful for a very talented support staff and supportive community. Our students consistently score well on state tests. As a District, we continue to focus on literacy across all curricular areas and grade levels.

One of our proudest academic components is our dual credit college offerings that we host on our own campus in partnership with Highland Community College. Each year, juniors and seniors take advantage of these college classes that transfer directly to four year colleges and universities. Our athletic programs are consistently competitive and successful. We are home to a state championship music program, an agriculture curriculum with a very active FFA, and with the financial help of the Stockton Education Foundation, our students and teachers are able to utilize the latest in technological tools.

The District is also known for its outstanding approach to working with special needs students and features a universal pre-kindergarten that accommodates all of the community’s early childhood needs.

A Message from Mr. Bunting

I am honored to be the superintendent of Stockton Community Unit School District 206, and to partner with our students, educators, families, and community to ensure we provide the community with educational, vocational, and extracurricular opportunities.

As the Superintendent of Schools, my focus is on our students, and I make a continuous effort to meet students and parents, visit classrooms, attend school events, and build relationships both in our schools and in our community.  I encourage you to introduce yourself to me if you see me around the community or at an event.

A little about myself.  I am married to my wonderful wife Janet and we have three children Allee, Emily, and Justin.  I enjoy fishing and spending time with my family.  My college career started at Joliet Junior College and I then transferred to Eastern Illinois University.  While at Eastern I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education, Masters in Educational Administration, and Superintendent Endorsement.  My teaching career started in Freeport, IL as a seventh-grade math teacher for a year.  I then moved to Watseka, IL, and had been with the district for the past 25 years.  I taught junior high math and was a middle and high school principal and superintendent during my time in Watseka.  I am excited to lead Stockton in to the future.

In quality education,

James Bunting
